1 Persepolis 3.8 Extended Assessment
For one of your topics (inferences about Marji’s character/personality, the role of religion, the political reality of her time, or her family relationships), state what you consider to be the most significant or powerful INFERENCE. Use the graphic novel elements to prove your inference concerning the topic. Be sure to refer to and explain specific panels from Persepolis. Include the page and panel number. 2 Getting Started Your topic sentence should be your inference.
Your first Supporting Sentence should link back to the earliest place where that idea is revealed. Your Example Sentences should explain how the graphic element contributed to your knowledge of that inference. In Persepolis, Marji has a passion for social justice. In the chapter entitled “The Letter,” she goes to a demonstration with her maid Mehri to stand up against the government and the differences in social class. On page 38, Marji says, “Tomorrow we are going to demonstrate.” The speech bubble shows she is determined to stand up for what she sees as in injustice.
