3 About ABPANC

4 Mission & Vision ABPANC Vision: Recognizing and respecting the unequaled excellence in the mark of the CPAN® and CAPA® credentials, perianesthesia nurses will seek it, managers will require it, employers will support it and the public will demand it. ABPANC Mission: Assuring a certification process for perianesthesia nurses that validates the achievement of knowledge gained through professional education and experience, ultimately promoting quality patient care. Awe inspiring vision – our work is dedicated to making the vision come true - Mention that at a recent American Board of Nursing Specialties Assembly meeting, a speaker on Governance had looked at ABNS member organizations’ and used ours as the “most compelling” vision statement she had ever seen!

5 A Standard Beyond Licensure!
Certification is the formal recognition of specialized knowledge, skills and experience demonstrated by achievement of standards identified by a nursing specialty. There is a difference between certification and licensure – both being under the credentialing umbrella. ABPANC adopted the definition of certification identified by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) Licensure provides the legal authority for an individual to practice professional nursing. Private, voluntary certification, as sponsored by ABPANC, reflects achievement of a standard beyond licensure for specialty nursing practice.

6 Accredited by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC) since 2004!
Demonstrated compliance with 18 rigorous standards of quality in the certification industry. Why is accreditation important? Puts us on the same level playing field as that other nursing certifiers including those offering the CNOR, CCRN, CMSRN programs. ABPANC’s two programs were last reaccredited in 2014 until Many employers will not financially support a nursing certification unless the certification program is accredited by ABSNC. ABNSC accreditation is also recognized by the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center)

15 New Test Assured Program
Allows CPAN or CAPA candidates to take the exam twice in a 12- month period if the first attempt is unsuccessful. Candidates can take the exam a second time—if the first attempt is not successful--for a nominal fee of an additional $50 at time of registration. Employer voucher purchases for initial certification automatically include Test Assured. Our newest and most exciting program ABPANC started this year is the Test-Assured program. Because our nurses asked for it, we put together this program to provide them with peace of mind. It’s an extra incentive to take that final step in registering for the exam. Note: only those who apply as New applicants, starting with the July 2019 application period are eligible. Past applications cannot add this option (for instance those who have a rollover from a previous application).
