Friendship As you grow up you'll make friends and lose friends. There'll be times when friends need your help. And there'll be times when you don't get along. Friends can be there to enjoy the best times, and they can help us when we're feeling down. But sometimes friendships have problems, and how we act in these situations is very important to ensure we handle these properly. It's okay to not get on with some people – we can't always be friends with everyone we meet. Sometimes you might not like someone when you first meet them. But you might find that as time goes on you start to like them more. Try not to judge someone before getting to know them. If you give them a chance, you might just become friends.

Friendship We can't choose how we feel, but we can choose how we act. So if there's someone in your group who you don't like, it's important to make sure you're not nasty to them. You can get along with someone and hang out in the same group as them without being really close friends. You'll make lots of different kinds of friends in your life. Some friends you'll only know for a summer or whilst playing a sport. And some you might know for your whole life. It's natural for some friends to drift apart. And this is more likely to happen if you and a friend go to a schools or college. Friendships are normally best when they aren't forced. If there's a friend that you feel you're naturally growing away from, that's okay. You might not have the same interests anymore, and you might make new friends somewhere else.

Tutorial Worship Friendship problems…
You and your friend have had a falling out recently, and you have both been upset. As a group, discuss the following questions: What would be a bad way to react about the situation, and what could make this worse? What solutions and strategies could you put in place to help solve this problem moving forward into the future?

Tutorial Worship On the right is an empty outline of a person
Individually or in small groups, think about what characteristics make up a GOOD friend? Now you have thought about it, add these characteristics to your stick person, try to aim for 8-10 characteristics or qualities you look for in a friend. Discuss as a group what you came up with and the characteristics we look for.
