Understanding Aerodynamics and Diesel Efficiency as well as Safety-Logistics in the context of operations for semi-truck platoons.
1) Truck efficiency maps for control systems applications. 2) Safety-energy consumption trade-offs for design and implementation.

3. PISES – II: Expected Outcomes
Highly discretized efficiency maps to be used in control systems and safety-energy consumption trade-off maps for improved design and implementation of the platooning. On the deployment front: Validation of drag reduction results using Peloton testing.
Platooning of semi-trucks to improve efficiency is being implemented in several freight-transport fleets, the work undertaken in this project would facility better design and implementation of platooning in various scenarios. 3
