11. Engage Leadership Upfront

12. Budget for Staff in Grant Proposal
Additional staff help ensure you have the resources to meet the grant’s objectives.
Larger staff allows for more than one person to hold specific knowledge about your grant.

13. Set Up a System of Information Sharing from the Beginning
Documentation & grants manual started are fast track on-boarding tools.
Adjust your grants manual as you go so that new staff can review current information for quicker on-boarding.

14. Cross-train Staff
We have a pyramid structure where staff report up the chain.
This is two-fold. In the educational world, you have to have experience supervising others to move up.
It also helps to ensure staff are cross-trained on others’ roles & responsibilities.

15. Create Relationships Across Staff
Have purposeful staff meetings focused on solutions.
Ensure all staff have equal access to data entry and that all staff have the skill set(s) required to run reports.
If a staff person gives notice, have them spend the majority of their time providing information needed for a smooth transition.
