Domestic Violence What We See and What’s Underneath the Iceberg
-Tundra Women’s Coalition Eileen Arnold DV is a complex issue with multiple influencing factors including historical trauma, oppression, institutional racism, substance mis-use, and a culture of violence and normalization of violence. We’re very grateful to be here, but it should be understood that this is scratching the surface. But this is good—by the time people call TWC it’s because they have no other resources. You learning this will help your communities so that people won’t have to call us.

First Hand Out: Power and Control v. Equality
The difference is having a voice in the decision making. It’s ok to have certain jobs within a family as long as it’s not forced or used as a way to maintain power and control. Example of my parents and managing money.

Second Hand Out: The Cycle of Violence
As opposed to a healthy relationship—when tensions rise you talk it out, figure it out, without violence.
