Week of February 10, 2014 segregation (noun) the action of setting someone apart from other people. (In the United States African Americans were segregated for almost 100 years because of the color of their skin.) Sentence: People should not be segregated just because of the way they look.

Week of February 10, 2014 Civil Rights Act of 1964 (noun) a law that ended segregation and gave everyone the same rights. Sentence: Thanks to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, African Americans could now use any public facilities.
