2 Do now: Take out your module 6 packet.
What are some things that you notice, what are some things that you wonder?

3 Objective: I will be able to: Display numerical data in plots on a number line, including dot plots, histograms, and box plots. I will also be able to summarize numerical data sets in relation to their context, such as by: giving quantitative measures of center (median and/or mean) and variability (interquartile range and/or mean absolute deviation). So that I can: analyze, summarize, and display the data from my statistical question. I will show that I understood it by analyzing the numerical data with my group to complete my numerical summary sheet with 100% accuracy. 6.SP. A.4 6.SP. A.5

4 Vocabulary: Data statistical data collection tool Analyze Summarize
graphical model- dot plot, box and whiskers, histogram measures of center- mean, median, mode Range mean absolute deviation interquartile range.

5 Developing a Statistical Project (As a reminder)
Over the next few days, you will be working in a small group to apply the skills you have learned from statistics to create and implement your own statistical project. Your group will: Create a statistical question. Determine a data collection tool. Gather the data using the collection tool from at least students. Organize the data you have collected and graph the data in at least 2 different ways. Utilize the graphs to answer your statistical question. Create a visual (poster) that includes your statistical question, graphs, measures of center and variability (mean, median, mode, MAD, range) Prepare a presentation

6 Collecting the Data You should have collected the remaining part of your data from the other class and now you will start to organize it. You need to make sure you have surveyed roughly students. Organizing our data includes: the numerical summaries as well as the graphic summaries. (you will start a rough draft of finding the mean, median, mode, range, MAD, IQR, etc.)

7 Begin to describe the shape of the graph (approximately symmetric, right/left skewed).

8 Translating the Data You should have collected the remaining part of your data from the other class and now you will start to graph it. Graphing our data includes: choosing 2 out of the 3 graphical displays and completing them: histogram, dot plot and/or box and whisker plot.

9 How do you feel? topic.

10 I can use my examples to help!
Homework: handout

11 Exit Ticket handout

12 Accommodations Read or reread presentation or activity directions, as needed or after prompting Use examples to model and act as a guide for emerging learners
