Wireless Sensor Networks - An Information Processing Approach Morgan Kaufmann, 2004 Algorithmic view at wireless sensor networks Topics: Localization MAC, Infrastructure Sensor tasking and control Sensor network databases Network platforms and tools

9 Literature VII Editors: Ilyas and Mahgoub
Handbook of Sensor Networks: Compact Wireless and Wired Sensing Systems CRC Press, 2005 Collection of specialized chapters on sensor networks Hard too read for the beginner Detailed description of special topics in each chapter written by specialists in the field

10 Course Project You are supposed to read some state of the art papers in the field of your research project and write a technical report about it. Your paper should be selected from the prestigious conferences Like Sensys, IPSN It should be recently published (3 years old at most) You may need to do a forward and backward search You should use a simulator (TOSSIM, OPNet, NS2, etc) to perform your projects.

11 Course Evaluation: Grading
Final exam: 60% Project: 20% Midterm: 20% 2 Points will be added for accepted paper

12 WSN at some Universities
Harvard: University of Maryland Baltimore County: Technische universitat Dresden: University of Notre Dame: Ferdowsi University of Mashhad:
