Three Parts to a Logical Response:
1. CLAIM 2. EVIDENCE 3. REASONING
2
CLAIM A statement about the solution to a problem
A response to a question Question: What will happen if I placed an Alka Seltzer tablet and water inside a film canister? Your answer should written in a “if, then, because” statement. The because statement is what you are testing for. An answer to a problem
3
EVIDENCE Relevant data or facts that supports the claim
This is the step where you analyze your data such as charts and graphs. How many trials did your group perform? What was the result of each trial? Use timers to gather information on reaction time for each trial. How long did it take for you to see a reaction in each trial? Observations that support the claim
4
REASONING Explains how the evidence is linked to the claim
Justifies why the data, facts, or observations support the claim Includes appropriate content concepts or principles
