HeFH is a common inherited condition affecting approximately 1:
FH is underdiagnosed and therefore undertreated.
If left untreated, lifelong burden of elevated LDL.c increases risk of premature CVD.
Cascade screen relatives using DNA testing where family mutation is identified.
A high intensity statin is recommended in adults with FH, aiming at least for a 50% reduction in baseline LDL.c
Children with FH should be offered a statin by the age of 10 years.
