In 1754, the French built a fort called Fort Duquesne in the middle of two rivers which is now known as downtown Pittsburgh, this fort was built on British land and is the main cause of the French and Indian War. The French and indian war was a rivalry between the French and the British over territory and resources . In order to win against their rivals the British, the french traded with native americans in order to obtain natural resources and learn how to cultivate the land. The French claimed most of central and a small portion northern north America. The British occupied most of northern north america and some of the coast lines along the atlantic ocean which established a fundamental trade route with other countries, and some islands off the coast. Small portions of northern north america is disputed between the french and english.

Mnemonic device- Natives wore wolf pelts. Im james Wolfe. Therefore I was in the french and indian war. James Wolfe, a British leader was made commander in the battle of Quebec which was a battle by the British over the French. This battle was a turning point in the war, and was caused by British cutting off supplies to New France. The reason the French and Indian War ended was because of the Treaty of Paris, this treaty was signed by the French in 1763 which greatly expanded British control in North America. The French and Indian War dispute between England and France is similar to the dispute between the nazis and the rest of Europe. In both instances they are fighting over land.

At the end of the war the British ended up being in debt from military expenses. This caused the sugar act (1764), the stamp act (1765), and the Townshend act (1767). These acts were raising funds for the american colonies. This is what caused the protests against taxation without representation. The themes of the French and Indian war was about territories expanding into each other. The British had controlled the Ohio River Valley but the French tried to expand Into it which sparked a war.
