1978: Founded by Ivan and Lynette Saltzman: 1st retail pharmacy in Mondeor, Johannesburg

1984: 2nd retail pharmacy opened at the Randridge Mall, Johannesburg.
1989: Product offering expanded to include non- pharmaceutical products
1997: Dis-Chem started selling their own private label of non-pharmaceutical products

2003: Dis-Chem Benefits loyalty programme launched
2004: National roll-out starts with 1st store opening in Cape Town
2008: Growing footprint through partnering with independent pharmacies

ONLINE STORE, WHOLESALE INVESTMENT, JSE LISTING
2013: Online shop launched
2016: Acquisition of CJ Distribution into Dis-Chem wholesale.
