Sue: I’m hoping that I can use this image, which is from WalesOnline: I’m asking for their permission! I’ve found it quite hard to find copyright-free images of ‘then’ and ‘now’ places in Wales! (It was also hard for England – the Bank of England was about the only one!)

We can now compare quantities, including looking at ratio and proportion.
For example: If for every one 1 bus we saw 6 cars, the ratio is: 1 bus to 6 cars (1:6)
How many cars would we have seen if we saw 5 buses?
The proportion of vehicles we saw:
Bus: 1 in 7
Cars: 6 in 7
