Understand what a catalyst is. Know an example of a lab situation involving catalysts. Know an example of an everyday situation involving catalysts. You can define the term “catalyst”. You can identify a substance as a catalyst. You can describe one example of a lab situation involving catalysts, including: the name of the catalyst names of the reactants what evidence suggested the catalyst was working You can describe one example of an everyday situation involving catalysts, including: a description of the process that the catalyst catalyses .
3
Where do you find catalysts?
4
There are catalysts in cars.
6
There are catalysts in biological washing powders.
7
There are catalysts in living things.
8
They are chemicals which speed up chemical reactions.
Some chemical reactions won’t work without a catalyst. Every chemical reaction has its own catalyst. What are catalysts? To be used after teaching of catalysts. Catalysts are always solid.
