Distinct volatiles are ordered by their retention times and approximately by increasing molecule size. Bars show the total number of actinobacterial strains that produced each VOC (a) and the total number of strains that produced each VOC on GA and ISP2 media (b). The 28 compounds identified from their mass spectra are labeled (a) (see Materials and Methods and Table S4).
