What do we mean?

2 Why Earth Education? Earth Science plays an important role in the ability of individuals, local communities, nations and the global community to address environmental and resource issues of critical importance to our ability to live successfully, sustainably, and equitably on the planet.

3 Earth Education for whom?
As a result, it is important that all people have access to Earth education Including international

4 Earth Education to what end?
so that they can develop an understanding of the Earth, how humans impact the Earth and its impacts on them, and how the Earth sciences can be used to obtain new information relevant to decision making on all scales.

5 Earth Education to what end?
Such an education is aimed at enabling science-informed decision making and action, as well as the development of the workforce needed to create a sustainable future.

6 What does this education look like?
Highest quality education for all people Access to learning experiences that are accessible, meaningful, equitable, make use of evidence-based teaching practices and are delivered in an environment that supports learning for all students.

7 What does this education look like?
Understanding the Earth and its relationship to society Development of an understanding of the Earth system and a capacity for systems thinking through lifelong learning in many contexts. Exploration of the explicit connections between Earth learning and resource and environmental issues facing society.

8 What does this education look like?
Learning for Use Engagement with authentic data and the processes that Earth scientists use to answer questions relevant to society and to engage in this work. Opportunities to use Earth science to address issues of personal importance.
