WBG’s twin goals: The goals are to reduce extreme poverty in the world to less than 3 percent by 2030, and to foster income growth of the bottom 40 percent of the population in each country. Global Poverty Indicators: (a) Poverty headcount ratio at $1.90 a day % of population: 35.5% 1990   10.9% 2013, (b) Number of poor at $1.90 a day (2011 PPP): billion 1990 783 million 2013

Instrument Explanation IDA Credit Investment Project Financing financing for physical/social infrastructure Development Policy Financing provides budget support for a program of policy and institutional actions. Program-for-Results links disbursement directly to the delivery of defined results. Trust Fund and Grants Allow scaling up of activities; enable the World Bank to provide support when our ability to lend is limited. 2. Knowledge and Capacity Development Instrument Explanation Analytical Works Bank country staff gather and evaluate information (data, policies and statistics) about the existing economy, government institutions or social services systems. A starting point for policy and strategic discussions Technical Assistance Professional technical advice that supports legal, policy, management, governance and other reforms needed for a country's development goals.
