Purinergic receptor signaling on intracellular ATP levels and extracellular ATP on glycolytic and OXPHOS rates. Purinergic receptor signaling on intracellular ATP levels and extracellular ATP on glycolytic and OXPHOS rates. A549 cells were incubated with ATP for various times in the presence or absence of suramin (A), a purinergic receptor inhibitor or BApTA (B), a calcium chelator. After incubation, cells were lysed and measured for their intracellular ATP levels. C and D, extracellular ATP induced small and temporary change in either ECAR (glycolytic; C) or OCR (OXPHOS) rates (D) as revealed by the Seahorse analysis. Arrows (C and D), time of ATP addition. ***, P < Yanrong Qian et al. Mol Cancer Res 2016;14: ©2016 by American Association for Cancer Research
