ETHICAL DILEMMAS WHEN TWO “RIGHT” VALUES ARE IN CONFLICT EXAMPLE:
Your best friend is Jane. She is an art teacher at the elementary school. You recently participated in a confidential budget discussion where you learned that art funding at the elementary level would be drastically reduced. While you do not know if that reduction means a loss of head count, you do know the reduction will affect Jane. At the Friday night high school football game, Jane asks about the budget meeting and the rumors about upcoming reductions.

On a Friday afternoon, your boss is out of town at a conference and will not be returning until Wednesday. Her signature is required to enroll students in AP classes. Her best friend has called her and requested her child be added to the AP course before Monday. Your boss calls and tells you to ask the friend to fill out the form. Your boss also asks you to sign the friend’s form with the boss’s name to expedite the enrollment.

On a Friday afternoon, your boss is out of town at a conference and will not be returning until Wednesday. The concessions vendor has a delivery for the football game this evening and requires a signed invoice to drop off the goods. Your boss’s signature is required on the invoice. You call your boss and she asks you to sign her name on the invoice.
