Simple Battery Circuit
Electrons (-) charge Light source Battery source Copper wire- conductor Rubber - insulator
4
Conductors Conductor Examples: coin, metal paperclip, silver, gold, iron, brass, graphite (pencil lead), aluminum can and copper wire Copper is considered to be a conductor because it “conducts” the electron current or flow of electrons fairly easily. Most metals are considered to be good conductors of electrical current. In a conductor, electric current can flow freely.

Insulators Insulator Examples: plastic, paper, dry wood, rulers, glass, cotton and rubber Insulators are used to protect us from the dangerous effects of electricity flowing through conductors. In an insulator the electric current cannot flow freely.
