The effect of roscovitine on Ca2+-dependent glutamate release from synaptosomes prepared from rat brains in response to membrane depolarization with 1 mm 4-AP (n = 5). Data represent the mean ± SEM values of five independent experiments. The synaptosomes were incubated with each concentration of roscovitine (■, 0 μm; ○, 5 μm; ▴, 10 μm) for 30 min, and then 4-AP was added at 0 sec. Values significantly different from the control synaptosomes (0 μm roscovitine) are indicated (*p < 0.05; **p < 0.01; Scheffe's test). Kazuhito Tomizawa et al. J.
