2. INTRODUCTION Government Employees Pension Fund Law,1996 (GEP LAW)
The Government Employees Pension Fund is a defined benefit pension fund.
A defined benefit pension fund is a fund where the benefits are defined in terms of the rules. Benefits are generally guaranteed and are not dependent on the investment returns of the fund or on the level of employer contributions.

4. RETIREMENT BENEFITS More than 10 years of service:
Gratuity and Annuity payable into your own account
Note: If you retire before the age of 60, your benefits will be reduced by of a % for each month.

5. DIVORCE
Divorce benefits in terms of section 7 (8) of the Divorce Act, 1979;
As per settlement agreement
Payable immediately after divorce of member (as of 2012/04/01)
Submit a certified copy of your Decree and Settlement agreement to HR and the GEPF
Tax implications:
Before 13/09/2007 to member
As from 13/09/2007 to ex-spouse
