1 Minsthorpe Diversity Weeks Just Like Us!
18th-30th June 2017

2 What we want to achieve We want to support and raise awareness of LGBTQ issues. We will hopefully give you all a better understanding on what LGBTQ is and how to support others if they are being bullied or just having a hard time. We are all equal and should be treated equally all the same.

3 individuals/identities.
What is LGBTQ? "LGBTQ" is an acronym that originated in the 1990s and replaced what was formerly known as "the gay community." The acronym was created to be more inclusive of diverse groups. LGBTQ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (and/or questioning) individuals/identities.

4 Here are some statistics!
42% of LGBT youth have experienced cyber bullying, 25% more than once, 35% receive online threats, and 58% say something bad is said to them or about them online 44% felt unsafe at school due to gender identification. And now there is 28% feel they are still unsafe 21% of participants believed the most likely sporting environment for homophobia to occur is school PE classes 78% of participants said an openly Gay, Bisexual or Lesbian person would not be very safe as a spectator at a sporting events 2 in 5 contemplate suicide 1 in 2 self-harm 9 in 10 hear homophobic remarks at school but don’t really do anything about it 6 in 10 have experienced homophobic bulling

5 If many people don’t judge a celebrity, or anyone that is either family or very close to them, so DON’T judge or BULLY other students that are LGBTQ. At the end of it they are the same as you, they aren't different or a freak, they just like to be who they are like you and I, not a person that has to hide their true identity.

6 We want Minsthorpe to be a safe place for everyone, what ever their identity or sexuality. If you do too then please sign the Minsthorpe Diversity pledge in the Canteens areas and P&A to support the weeks.
