Thinking Outside the Box
Many of us have desire to pursue careers in the “traditional” fields. Will jobs in these areas continue to exist and thrive in the future? What are some new “jobs of the future” that do not currently exist but will by the time you enter the job market?

Drone operator Driverless car engineer Cloud computing specialist YouTube content creator Uber driver Elder care services coordinator Sustainability manager Millennial generational expert None of these jobs existed 10 years ago!

Career as an Entrepreneur
Instead of working for an employer, would you rather be your own boss? An entrepreneur is someone who undertakes the creation, organization, and ownership of a business. Many of are home-based businesses. Online businesses have grown substantially in recent years.

Finding a Mentor What is a mentor ?
Think about our Mentorship students at North. What do they do? Can be anyone who is willing to provide guidance and share their time, knowledge, and experience with you (in this case about their career path) How can a mentor help me as I take my first steps in pursuit of my career? Where can I find a mentor?

Takeaway What are the benefits of being an entrepreneur? Could that be something I want to pursue in the future? Is there someone in my life now who might become my mentor? If not, how can I go about finding one?

Careers Workshop & Speaker Series
All CLC students are required to attend at least 3 workshops during the year “Skills” workshops – mostly held on Goal Days Guest speakers from various fields will come in during the year – pick up field trip form from office Attending one of the Re-Think guest speakers organized by Ms. Carey also counts towards CLC requirements Pay attention to Student Bulletin, My BluePrint, and throughout the year!
