What does he say about his attitude to the village as an adult ? What are the key events that take place at the stream? The stream marks a boundary to the village – (liminality). In what way is it used to show that Veronika is never able to move outside her poverty-driven, female life?

Jonathan Peel JLS 2016 Indoors or out? How is the interior of the hut used to develop the distance between the characters? Make a list of the descriptive material relating to the interior. Is there a pattern? Out can include out of the village. Can you find evidence to support this statement: “It is the village which suffocates Veronica. Okeke succeeds in life because he is able to get out of the village.”?
