Subtracting Integers
4
Objective: I can use properties of operations to subtract rational numbers (integers). (7.NS.A.1d)
5
Vocabulary: -Integers: Whole numbers and their opposites.
6
What is an integer? Characteristics of an integer: Examples:

The Rules: The same as adding its opposite!
DO NOT CHANGE THE FIRST INTEGER! (KEEP) Change the subtraction sign to a plus sign. (FLIP) Change the sign of the next integer to its opposite. (CHANGE) Follow the addition rule.

SUBTRACTING INTEGERS CARD GAME
23
RULES & DIRECTIONS RED—NEGATIVE K-13 Q-12 J-11 A-1 BLACK—POSITIVE
Deal the deck until you and your partner have the same number of cards. Each player plays (places down) one card at a time. Whoever answers the “card problem” first and is correct wins those cards. Keep playing until one player has ALL the cards.

EXIT TICKET Evaluate. (-1) – (-9) = 12 – (-5) = (-7) – 5 = 10 – (-2) =
