ground plan Seismic Retrofitting of a service water pond at KAMEIDO in TOKYO It was built in 1970. It is a structure of 8m in height. Width is 100m×100m. It can store up the drinking water of 60,000m3. a cross section

HMP The Existing piles were constructed by a houndstooth check at intervals of 2m. Existing pile is PC pile. It is about 35m length and 600mm in the diameter. We learn a lesson from The Hyogoken-nanbu earthquake, and Specifications for Water installations was revised in 1997. Kamaido service water pond did not satisfy Specifications for Water installations after it was revised. Seismic retrofit was needed for it and HMP was applied.
