Different levels of SDG monitoring

EU SDG indicator set 2017 Result of a very broad consultative process [incl: Member States NSIs, Council Committees (EMCO, SPC, EFC), users, academia, civil society, intl. organisations (FAO, UNEP…)] Indicators chosen for relevance and statistical quality [strong links to EU policies] 18 May favourable opinion of European Statistical System Committee (ESSC) No additional burden on Member States and no financial implications

EU SDG indicator set 2017 100 indicators (of which 41 are multipurpose indicators) structured along the 17 SDGs only indicators for which data is already available aligned with high-level scoreboards of EU policies; 68% from ESS, 32% from non-ESS sources 56% aligned with UN level SDG indicators available breakdowns by gender, age groups, NUTS 2 region, educational level, degree of urbanisation, income and disability, etc.

Next steps March 2018: agreement on 2018 EU SDG indicator set
end March 2018: publication of the refined 2018 EU SDG indicator set on Eurostat website March-September 2018: drafting of the EU SDG monitoring report including consultation with other Commission services and EU Member States mid-September 2018: online release of the EU SDG monitoring report
