3 From the program The Arthritis Foundation Walk With Ease program is designed to help you make physical activity part of your everyday life. Walk With Ease is a six-week program that has been proven to increase balance, strength, and walking pace. The program also helps to reduce arthritis symptoms. Walk With Ease is an enjoyable way to help increase physical activity, by yourself or with your friends in a group setting. “For most people with arthritis, and for people in general, a regular walking program is the easiest and safest way to get needed cardiovascular exercise and all the wonderful physical and mental benefits it brings.” Source: p. 1

4 Overview “Walk With Ease was written specifically for people with arthritis, but it can be a practical and useful resource for anyone, whether he or she has arthritis or not. This program is designed for adults, male and female, fit or flabby anyone who wants to increase physical activity to gain the benefits of exercise.” Source: p. 1

7 How the Walk With Ease Program Works
Solo People can read the guidebook and do program activities on their own. Group People can participate with a group of walkers coordinated by a Walk With Ease leader. The program was designed with two formats in mind. People can either: 1) participate with a group of walkers coordinated by a Walk With Ease leader 2) read the guidebook and do program activities on their own. If you purchase the guidebook; it includes all the tools you need to: Develop a walking plan that will meet your needs Stay motivated Manage your pain Learn to exercise safely Either way, Walk With Ease is set up as a structured six week program for walking. 3 times/week for 6 weeks; each session is about one hour long (Leader Guide p. 2-3, etc.)

You’ll find resources to help you get started and stay motivated (register & login) Videos: Get step-by-step instructions for warming up, basic stretches, additional stretches, and strengthening exercises that will help your walking program (no login)
