What is physical education?
Physical education is the development of the body both mentally and physically. Physical education is an integral part of the total education process. Its allows you to acquire movement knowledge and gain movement skill as well as develop social skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship and getting along with others.

WHAT ARE THE CLASS RULES ?

The following Social Skills apply to all Shandin Hills P. E. students:
1. Get dressed PROPERLY and be on time everyday. 2. Participate in active listening and follow directions. 3. Demonstrate respect for others, keep your hands, feet and comments to yourself. 4. Lotion (scented), Food , drinks, and gum are not allowed in the locker room or in class. 5. Valuables such as wallets, purses, cell phones, and jewelry are Your Responsibility. 6. NO GLASS of any kind or AEROSOL CANS are allowed in the locker room . If at any time you are injured in class, no matter how minor, report it immediately to a teacher. (Dr. Notes)

Locker Room Rules: Be Respectful – If it doesn’t belong to you don’t touch it, keep your locker clean and don’t forget to wash your clothes when they get stinky, always return your loaners on time. Be Safe – Keep noise levels down, refrain from horseplay, save the running for outside in class. Be Responsible – Be on time to the locker room. Keep your belongings locked up at all times, keep your lock combination to yourself, return your lock to your assigned small locker at the end of the period.

Locker Room Procedures: Come to the Locker Room before the tardy bell rings, locate your locker and start getting dressed.

ASSIGNED LOCKER: Dress in Locker area ONLY. Restrooms are not allowed to get dressed in. Only include PE clothes, Shoes and Deodorant..

Place all school clothes and shoes in the long locker and put your lock on it. Once you come back, put your lock back on the small locker.

Backwards Lock? This means you left your locker unlocked or you did not lock your lock correctly

PE Procedure: Use the restroom if needed and wait in the locker room dressed in your PE clothes until you are dismissed to your bleacher. When directed, exit through the correct door and go directly to your assigned bleacher, sit down and wait for further instructions from your teacher. Classes will begin with going to your numbers when directed, roll call, group exercises, and daily lesson plan. Ten minutes or so before the end of class, you will turn in equipment, get a drink of water and go line up to dress. Enter the locker room, change back to your regular clothes, lock your small locker and wait in the locker room until the bell rings to go to your next class.

WHAT DO I WEAR FOR P.E. ?

Students will be dressed for P.E. class daily in the Shandin Hills
P.E. uniform: Grey Shirt, Black Shorts and Athletic Shoes. Cost $10.00 for the shirt/ $10.00 for the shorts = $20.00 for the set. Cost $ for Sweats/ $13.00 for Sweatshirt & Sweatshorts

Dressing Out You Must Be Prepared to Dress Out Everyday in Shandin Hills PE clothes or you can wear a plain black fitness/basketball style shorts and a plain grey t-shirt. NO V-CUTS OR SWOOP SHIRTS. TURNED INSIDE OUT . NO STRIPES DOWN THE SIDE OF YOUR SHORTS (PLAIN BLACK ONLY) Your shoes must be rubber soled tennis/fitness style shoes. Sandals, boots, flats, etc. are NOT OKAY Sweats are ok, but you must wear your PE shorts under. Sweats must be, grey, black, maroon, red, white or yellow sweats (sweatshirts) If you do not have your PE clothes for any reason you must explain your situation with your teacher.

We will dress for PE everyday!
Starting Monday, August 27th, you will dress out for PE everyday for the rest of the school year. This means that if it is raining…You will dress out. If it’s snowing…You will dress out. If it’s windy, hot, cold or beautiful weather…You will dress out. If it’s picture day…most likely we will not dress. Please be prepared to dress out everyday. If you do not have your PE clothes, you will be assigned a set of loaner clothes for the day. Medical excuses does not excuse you from dressing unless it is impossible to dress, etc. a cast.

What happens if you break a rule:
Individual counseling –your teacher will explain to you what was done wrong and to clarify the expectations of class In-class intervention – Time to brainstorm together with the teacher in order to fix the problem you are having and/or a more substantial training on expectations of class In-class detention/separation from peers – Time for you to reflect on your behavior, cool down, get away for a moment. This may result in parent contact. Lunch Detention/After School Detention – We just aren’t seeing eye to eye and need more time together to fix the problem. Parent contact will occur at this time. Referral – to office or counselor. Parent Conference scheduled.

WHERE IS MY LOCKER ?

Each student SHOULD HAVE an assigned combination lock and a small
locker in the lockerroom. If the lock is lost , the student will be charged a replacement fee of $5.00.
