Important Dates
January 14th – 25th: P.A.R.P. Program
“Pick A Reading Partner” is a two week school-wide celebration that gets kids excited about reading. Students will receive a free book to kick-off the event and have the opportunity to earn even more rewards. Detailed information will be sent home on the 14th.
January 18th: No School for Students Superintendent’s Conference Day
January 21st: No School
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
January 25th: P.A.R.P. Family Fun Night

Math: The next skill we will focus on is skip counting. Students will need to skip count by 5s, 10s, and 100s up to The most challenging of these is skip counting by 10s or 100s starting at any number. Example: skip count by 10 starting at 143.
Writing: Going along with our reading unit, students will develop their writing skills through writing informational paragraphs.
Reading: Our next unit will focus on nonfiction and informational texts. Students will learn the importance of text features and finding the main idea of a reading selection.

Make Reading A Part Of Your Family Time! Family time is so important… Why not make reading part of this valuable time with
your kids? Here are some tips for
integrating reading into our daily family activities:
Read bedtime stories
Play a board game
Visit your local library
Read a recipe and cook something
yummy together!
Create a comfy reading space in your
home.
Put your child in charge of reading
the grocery list at the store.
