4 Preamble The Declaration of Independence
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

5 Freedom Week Not one of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence was born in America. The average age of the Signers of the Declaration was 45. Ben Franklin was 70 years old and the oldest to sign the Declaration of Independence.

6 Emilio & Gloria Estefan
National Hispanic Heritage Month September 15 to October 15  --Recognition of the contributions of Hispanic and Latin Americans to the heritage and culture of the United States-- Received the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Represent two firsts for the prize –first married couple to receive the award and first recipients of Hispanic descent. Sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide, including 31.5 million in the US alone. Won 7 Grammy Awards Received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Las Vegas Walk of Fame. Received the American Music Award for Lifetime Achievement Named BMI Songwriter of the Year. Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.  Emilio & Gloria Estefan

It was also a fusion that would define Latin pop for decades to come- that American sound with the Latino culture underneath it.”

10 YMS Future Business Leaders of America
Please see Mrs. Reynolds in room (long hall) for a brochure, an application, and a teacher recommendation form. All paperwork must be received by Wednesday, September 25th. Be a Leader Now!

11 YMS Tabletop Gaming Club
Do you like to play games? Join the Gaming Club! Come enjoy...Monopoly…Risk…Checkers… Chess…Rampage…Ticket to Ride…Munchkin! If that’s not your thing, what about Dungeons and Dragons? Or you can try puzzle games, yo-yos, and building sets! Meet every Thursday in room 831 right after school until 5 PM. Make sure you have a ride home! Get a form from Mr. Sernaker.

12 Quidditch—Muggles Welcome!
YMS Quidditch Club meets every Tuesday. Pick up a sports packet in the main office. Get that completed ASAP! Meet in room 204 in the media center right after school. Come “S.O.A.R.” with us!

15 Lady Hornets are a FORCE!
Both volleyball teams beat FBMS last night! Way to go, Hornets! The Ladies play at home against Baker County at 5:00 and 7:00. Keep this great season going, Ladies!

Be a part of the solution. This banner will be up all year in the cafeteria to remind us to care! Read the poster for ideas on how you can help! This is Suicide Prevention Month, but… YMS will focus on this ALL YEAR!
