Homework Policy A missing/late assignment notification will be written outlining the exact assignment that is missing. The slip will be sent home with the student that day for a parent signature and returned the following day along with the completed missing assignment. The student may be sent to study hall. All assignments must be completed even if they are late. After 5 missing assignments (total for all subjects), the student will be required to: attend study hall 2 days a week have assignment notebook signed by each teacher at the end of each class and parent at home If students have more missing assignments, the number of mandatory study hall days will increase. Students can be dismissed from mandatory study hall if, they have 4 week without any missing assignments. Each quarter students will start with a clean slate.

Accelerated Math Summit Hill School District 161 is now providing an accelerated curriculum option in Mathematics and English Language Arts in grades 5-8. This program is as inclusive as possible to increase the overall percentage of students exposed to advanced content and academic rigor by the time they complete eighth grade. We strive to provide flexible and innovative teaching and learning environments where students have the opportunity to probe deeper into the content of the curriculum, experience different processes of learning, and create projects to encourage exploration and experimentation at appropriate levels. Goal: Increase the percentage of students successfully completing our foundations to Algebra course in eighth grade so they have the necessary skills for Algebra 1 or Honors Algebra 1 in high school. Grade-level standards will be taught at a faster pace during quarters 1-3. Content from the next grade level will be introduced during the fourth quarter. This will allow students to enter our foundations to Algebra course in 8th grade.
