3 Summer of 1969: President Nixon announces troop withdrawals
Bombings in North Vietnam continued

4 November of 1969: Americans learn of the My Lai Massacre
American soldiers rounded up and shot between 200 and 500 Vietnamese civilians Helped fuel the antiwar movement in the US

5 April 30, 1970: President Nixon announces that the US had invaded Cambodia
Done to cut the supply lines of the Vietcong Did not ask Congress for permission Inspired mass protests across the US

6 May of 1970: riots occur at Kent State University
Protesting students burned down the ROTC building The National Guard was called in and used live ammunition, wounding nine and killing four

7 March of 1972, North Vietnam launches its largest attack on the South since Tet

8 January, 1973: The US signs an agreement to end the war

9 March, 1973: The last US combat troops leave Vietnam

10 April, 1975: North Vietnamese forces capture Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam
