From your profile, you will then click on the ‘My Applications’ tab and ‘Start a New Blank Application’ Create a new 4-year application Select Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX NOTE: Not the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center Select Application Type (Freshman, Transfer, etc) Select the Semester of Entry (for high school seniors, most will enter in fall 2020) TTU in Lubbock is the 1st option that pops up

12 Make reference to VB majors page to show the list of options.
This section is important to note assured admissions requirements for COBA, ENGR, Interior Design, Physics, Biology I like to emphasize how they should NOT select any pre-professional program as their choice of major as when it comes to scholarships they will not be receiving any, I let them know a few slides after they can elect to be in the pre-professional program of their choice. they will be provided with a pre-professional health career advisor

13

14 Note the special requirements for specific majors – restricted majors, location selection, etc.
NOTE: side navigation bar

15 Not everything is required. Ex: Social Security Number
FULL LEGAL NAME!! OMG so important, all the middle and last names must be present (match Drivers License, SS Card, PRC, etc)

16

17 What phone are you going to answer
What phone are you going to answer? We want to talk to YOU and not parents. What are you going to answer? Good idea is to make separate account just for college admissions. This needs to match your that is used to register for SAT/ACT or else they won’t link internally. Avoid using school or college accounts

18

19 ONLY FLUENT! 2 years in HS doesn’t count
Just guess on income, FAFSA is more important and exact. Family obligations: anything preventing you from engaging in extracurricular activities or community service

20 As you answer these questions, more will pop up
As you answer these questions, more will pop up. Answer to the best of your ability and note that not everything is required.

21

22 Q1 is OPTIONAL. We will only consider as rigor if they submit transcript. They do NOT HAVE TO ANSWER. Most students do not know that college courses are equal to 3 hours each. You have to enter in a number in order to save page. Dual credit counts as college credit hours. Do not include AP (I think? Rex?) USE THE FIND HS TOOL! Don’t enter yourself, you will get it wrong.

23 Don’t panic about what courses you put here or if you plan on changing your classes. This is an estimate and we know that plans change. Just give your best guess.

24

25 This does NOT request SAT/ACT to send scores
This does NOT request SAT/ACT to send scores. You MUST send scores from agency. We do NOT seek them out.

26 CORRECT IF WRONG – DC doesn’t count here?
Were you born in Texas and have lived here all your life? Then answer Texas, yes, yes Born in Mexico, or other state and recently moved here? Talk to me afterwards

27 It is best to enter into the screen
It is best to enter into the screen. A resume submission doesn’t guarantee that it will be reviewed so it is best to just enter items directly into the app and if you want to add a resume you can. refer to ApplyTexas worksheet, if student does not yet have access to ApplyTexas, they can jot down extracurricular activities, honors/awards, etc there.

28 want to see your level of involvement so don't stress and give me an educated guess

29

30

31

32

33 Elaborate on what you want to see in an essay.
I want your story not your parents or grandparents. There is a moment in your life whether big or small has shaped the way you view the world. Think of that moment and elaborate on it. SHOW ME WHO YOU ARE. You can also use this as an opportunity to explain your transcripts – why grades are how they are? Essentially this is your tool to give us reasons to admit you. We won’t deny based on grammar or punctuation but make sure it is your best representation of yourself. you can upload an essay to your student portal, but to ensure it is submitted with your app encourage to submit through ApplyTexas

34

35

36

37 Mention how the application fee waiver works, fastest way to get it waived is to submit that first page of their parent’s tax return or if it’s a TR student their SAR.
