Introduction We rarely do creative things, once in a blue moon.
Can we do creative things practically through out our adult lives. Can we make an impact through such lifelong creativity. But for most of us this requires some remodeling of ourselves, our capabilities, and our environment.

Life Long Creators Life long creativity seems to require a good fit between one’s innermost yearnings and one’s domain of creativity. Lifelong creators develop their capabilities throughout their life. Not born as a prodigy they display persistent creativity, attain great eminence and they profoundly shape their modern life. Lifelong creators are versatile personality who specialize in varied fields of discipline. Life long creators are especially interesting as they tend to produce a lot of creative work.

Cont… Such lifelong creativity covers a wide spectrum – artists, writers, scientists, entrepreneurs, social scientists, social reformers and professionals. These creators show the potential contribution to human civilization. This is not for a gifted few, there are good role models for us. They demonstrate that lifelong creativity is within the reach of all us.

Traits of life long Creativity
Most share some personality traits such as curiosity, independence, persistence, resourcefulness and learning ability. Some have the yen to blaze new trials. Most are good at alternating between divergent and convergent thinking. Strong in several dimensions of intelligence: Intuition, fluency of ideas, flexibility, sensitivity to issues, ability to structure problems in refreshing ways, IQ, ability to evaluate options, ability to optimize.

Cont… Increasingly in modern times, they also amass the necessary level of technical knowledge. Besides these inherent strengths of life long creativity, there are techniques that can augment the capacity for creative problem solving. They are: Brainstorming, questions checklist, morphological analysis, attributes changing, synectics and their combination.

Creative problem solving
Creative problem solving is the mental process of creating a solution to a problem. It is a special form of problem solving in which the solution is independently created rather than learned with assistance. Creative problem solving always involves creativity.

The following definitions allow for a common understanding of some terms that are used as the foundation for this workbook. CREATIVE an idea that has an element of newness or uniqueness, at least to the one who creates the solution, and also has value and relevancy. PROBLEM any situation that presents a challenge, an opportunity, or is a concern. SOLVING Devising ways to answer, to meet, or to resolve the problem. Therefore, CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING or CPS is a process, method, or system for approaching a problem in an imaginative way and resulting in effective action.

Process of CPS Problems have to be sensed and defined.
Divergent Thinking Mechanism to generate many solutions including novel ones. The phase of winnowing begins. Finally one or few high potential solutions need to be developed further and refined for final choice.

Mastering Creative Problem Solving
Each creation – be it artistic, scientific or commercial – poses a series of problems for the creator. These problems may be technical, conceptual, financial, emotional, aesthetic, or administrative which are unique to creative problem solving process. The difference between creative problem solving and common kind of problem solving from the more common kind of problem is the great deal of search and divergent thinking.
