В Specialization “Planting of Greenery in Inhabited Places” was found in the framework of specialty “Forestry” at the Forestry Faculty of the Belarusian Technological Institute in 1968 with professor Boris Zhilkin initiative. Since 1988, students have been admitted to the specialization “Landscape Architecture” in the specialty “Forestry and Landscape Gardening“. In 1992, the specialization “Landscape Architecture” was assigned to the Department of Forest Protection, which was renamed into the Department of Forest Protection and Landscape Design. In 1994, the first admission of students for the specialty “Landscape Architecture” was conducted. The Department of Landscape Design and Architecture was formed in 2009 as a result of reorganization of the Department of Forest Protection and Landscape Design (order № 966 from г.). Department of Landscape Design and Architecture carries out the training of specialists of the highest qualification in the specialty “Landscape Architecture” Specializations: «Construction and Maintenance of Landscape Structures» Our specialists are able at a high professional level : to develop landscape design projects; to reconstruct or restore monuments of landscape art; to decorate the interior of the office, production or living spaces; to maintain the viability and increase the sustainability of green plantations in difficult environment, to carry out revegetation of disturbed landscapes; to organize the cultivation of ornamental wood and flower plants in the open and protected ground The qualification “Landscape Architecture Engineer” provides the graduates with the possibility to work as landscape designers, heads of improvement afforestation and greenery departments, engineers, specialists in improvement activities, agronomists in various property management organizations, lecturers of specialized disciplines (subjects) at colleges and higher schools, etc.

Educational practical work
The department conducts educational practical work in 7 disciplines for students of 2 specialties : 1-75 02 01 “Landscape Architecture” – Floriculture, Decorative Dendrology, Ornamental Plants Nurseries, Landscape Art, Landscape Architecture, Construction and Maintenance of Landscape Structures . 1-89 02 02 “Tourism and Nature Management” – Complex Accomplishment of Territories for Ecological Tourism. During the practice period in the Forestry Experimental Station in Negoreloe, the students of the specialty “Landscape Architecture” perform all kinds of works on creating and maintaining the planting of ornamental plants in the parterre part of the botanical garden

Scientific research work at the department is conducted
in the following main areas : – development of perspective range and technologies for growing of ornamental floral and woody plants; – scientific substantiation and improvement of methods and means of landscape organization of populated areas, criteria for assessing the state of green plantations; – landscape analysis of territories and organization of works on the maintenance of landscaping objects.

Title PERSPECTIVE METHODS OF GARDENING AND REVITALIZATION OF INDUSTRIAL TERRITORIES IN THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS Description The purpose of the work is to identify promising methods of planting greenery of industrial territories, to identify the range of woody-shrub and grassy plants suitable for planting greenery of industrial and contaminated areas with various types of pollution; Development of general recommendations on the application of perspective gardening methods for various functional zones of industrial enterprises, development of schemes for technical and protective planting of industrial and adjacent areas To date, the development of gardening methods, most appropriate to the complex environmental conditions of industrial zones of industrial enterprises, has been developed, techniques have been developed corresponding to recreational and household areas, and a number of options have been proposed for the decorative design of various sections of the territory Advantages Expansion of the assortment of plants adapted to the conditions of Belarus, resistant to industrial pollution, expansion of borders and methods of their use. Title DEVELOPMENT OF A DESIGN PROJECT FOR LANDSCAPE ORGANIZATION OF THE “BORISOV EXPERIMENTAL FORESTRY“ TERRITORY Description The aim of the work was to develop a design concept for the landscape organization of the territory of the Borisov Experimental Forestry office. Reconnaissance inspections were carried out on the territory of the design object, an inventory of existing plants was carried out. Three variants of draft proposals for landscape organization of the forestry office were developed: on the basis of the option chosen by the customer, a master plan, a dendrological plan and a landing drawing were developed. Title TECHNOLOGICAL REGULATIONS ON THE COMPOSITION OF SUBSTRATES AND THE FEEDING OF FLOWERS OF SINGLE-SEASON AND LONG-TERM USE IN FLOWER GARDENS Description The composition of the substrate for cultivation of open-ground flowers at the green spaces of various functional purposes is proposed, recommendations are given on the fertilization of annual, biennial and perennial flowers with mineral fertilizers that take into account the biological characteristics of plants and the content of the basic elements of mineral nutrition in the substrate Advantages The development takes into account the peculiarities of mineral nutrition of flower-ornamental plants, is focused on the assortment of species and varieties of open-ground flowers, promising for the formation of flower-decorative compositions on the territory of Belarus Application areas Landscape architecture and design (development of architectural and landscape projects); communal services and garden and park construction (planting of greenery and territory accomplishment, care of green spaces) Technology readiness level Applied in production (2 acts of implementation) and the educational process Cost effectiveness The development is aimed at improving the quality of life and aesthetic improvement of the human environment; it has a predominantly social effect Contract Cooperation proposals Implementation of development in regions with similar natural and climatic conditions; conducting joint research with foreign partners Contacts Burganskaya T.M. Title RECOMMENDATIONS ON PERSPECTIVE METHODS OF CREATING AND USING TOPIARY FORMS OF DECIDUOUS SHRUBS IN THE PLANTING OF GREENERY IN THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS Description The development includes information on common approaches to the formation of sheared compositions of deciduous shrubs in modern landscape architecture and design, an assortment of ornamental deciduous shrubs to create topiary plant forms in the Republic of Belarus, and promising methods for creating and using topiary forms of deciduous shrubs in the landscaping of the Republic of Belarus. Advantages The development takes into account the specifics of the natural and climatic conditions of the Republic of Belarus, is focused on the assortment of species and decorative forms of deciduous shrubs most promising for the formation of topiary compositions on the territory of Belarus. Application areas Landscape architecture and design (development of architectural and landscape projects); communal services and garden and park construction (planting of greenery and territory accomplishment, care of green spaces). In 2012, on the bases of the Department of Landscape Design and Architecture Landscape Design Workshop was found, normative base for its activities was developed. The aim of the Landscape Design Workshop is to carry out research, designed, advisory and educational work in the field of landscape design and architecture on principles of self-financing.
