1. Ms. Hovious’ 1st Grade Week of: August 26th, 2019
CLASS DOJO: We have just over 75% of the class registered to class dojo. Please sign up if you have not yet (see paper sent in your child’s orientation packet – its free). This is a great and imperative way to communicate about your child’s progress. Also,please send a snack everyday with your child.
This week in math we will review kinder skills and work on routine and following directions. We will also have MAP testing this week.
This week in reading we will continue our author study on Eric Carle. We will read his stories and complete comprehension activities and crafts. This week we will also have MAP testing for reading.
We will incorporate our theme of Eric Carle’s books into social studies and science. We will discuss the four seasons and the book Tiny Seed as well as read the Grouchy Lady Bug.
This week we will continue to focus on writing our names properly with a capital and lowercase letters. You can practice this at home too!
Once we begin our reading curriculum here I will list weekly spelling and sight words. Every Friday students will take a spelling assessment.
