National reporting on data quality
Regulation (EC) 223/2009 requires the Member States to submit quality reports on their data Commission Recommendation 2009/498/EC proposes the Euro SDMX Metadata Structure (ESMS) for reporting on data quality The 27th ESSC meeting in 2015 endorses the Single Integrated Metadata Structure (SIMS) for quality reporting Since 2015, Eurostat has initiated the creation of national reporting files on data quality either in SIMS or ESMS format Environmental taxes by economic activity (ETEA) and economy-wide material flow accounts (EW-MFA) implement the standard SIMS structure for the data collections Goal: Achieve full coverage of all statistical domains

Support all stakeholders produce national metadata files by: Making available to national and European metadata providers the ESS Metadata Handler (ESS MH) tool to produce national and European metadata files Carrying out training courses Next Webinars on ESS MH: June 2019, 10:00-12:00 C.E.T.

National Reporting Future steps
Creation of national metadata files for environmental taxes by economic activity Templates for all countries will be created in ESS-MH The collection will be launched according to the timeline of the data collection Data compilers contact to provide EU-Login and receive access rights to their template Countries will complete fillable fields (concepts) in their file, save and send the file Eurostat will validate and publish the files sent by the countries
