2 Quick setup guidelines
How to operate the RT9114B GUI tool Note: You’ll need the Richtek Wrenboard I2C interface for controlling the RT9114B EVB. Install Richtek Bridgeboard utility. Then connect the Richtek Wrenboard board to the PC and connect the GND, SCL, SDA wires from Wrenboard to the RT9114B EVB. You can also connect the red 3.3V wire from Wrenboard board to the RT9114B 3.3V connection. Apply 8Ω speakers to the speaker connection and apply I2S digital audio signals to the J2 or J3 connector Apply 8~26V power to the EVB PVDD (do not hot-plug power, or add a 100uF/35V electrolytic capacitor to the EVB input). Then run the GUI tool, see GUI guide on the next pages

4 Utility and GUI installation
Download the file of Richtek Bridgeboard Utilities from Richtek website and install the utility. Download the file of RT911X_GUItools_RT9114B.zip from Richtek website PDF File/EVB_RT9114BGQV/RT911X_GUITools_RT9114B.rar and unzip the file. After unzip the file, run RT911X_Audio_GUITools.exe file. Then select chip RT9114B as below pupup window and click OK button.

5 GUI menu introduction This GUI tool includes below functions.
Main: it is to initialize the IC, to save or load the setting files. Input: it is to view the I2S interface information, and to view or update L/R Channel Input Mixer if required. Preprocessor: it is to view or update Bi-quad configuration if required. MB-DRC: it is to view DRC Band number, to view or set Multi-Band DRC coefficient data if required. Volume & DRC: it is to view DRC or to adjust the volume if required. Output Port: it is to view Prescaler, Postscaler, and Hard Clip threshold data. Filter Design : It is to view or to adjust the Bi-quad coefficient if required. FR Filter Coef.: it is to compensate the frequency response if required.

6 GUI manual: Initialization
Click the Main button. There are 2 steps to turn on the IC. Click the Reconnect button to connect the I2C. Then click the Initialize button to turn on the IC. . 2 1 Register address , value, status display Here it shows register address , value, and status.

7 GUI manual: Input Click the Input button for below setting.
It shows the current status of the L/R Channel Input Mixer. You can update it if required. It lists the information of the current status about the I2S interface setting. 1 2

8 GUI manual: Preprocessor
Click the Preprocessor button to see the information of the current setting about the Bi-quad. You can configure the enable/disable setting if required.

9 GUI manual: MB-DRC Introduction
Click the MB-DRC button for below setting. It shows the MBDRC Band number selection information. You can update it if required. Here you can view Multi-Band DRC coefficient and update the data if required. C_Threshold: compression corner setup C_Ratio: compression ratio Offset: whole range shift in dB Peak Mode: calculation method of Energy filter AE : time constant of Energy filter AA : time constant of Attack time AD : time constant of Decay time . It shows the DRC enable/disable information. You can update it if required. Click the Read button to see the current status of the DRC setting. Or click the Write button to write the setting you input.

10 GUI manual: MB-DRC Setting
Click the MB-DRC button for below setting. 3 1 There are 4 steps to set the MBDRC. Select the band. Select the DRC band coefficient page. Then it shows the coefficient information. You can update the coefficient data if required. Click the Write button when you completed all of setting. 2 4

11 GUI manual: Volume & DRC
Click the Volume & DRC button for below setting. It is to set DRC Band enable. You can set DRC enable for DRC4. Attack Rate: control how quickly the DRC changes the gain. Release Rate: control how quickly the DRC changes the gain. Delay: delay input signal It is to select Band number for multi-band DRC It is to adjust the volume. It is to adjust Dual Channel volume. S: Separate Channel L: Link dual channel

12 GUI manual: Output Port
Click the Output Port button for below setting. It shows the current status of the Prescaler and Postscaler. You can update it if required. It is to set Hard Clipping Threshold. It is to set POST IDF.

13 GUI manual: Bi-Quad Introduction
Click the Filter Design button for below setting. Enable or disable the EQ. It is to enable or disable the synchronization (link together ) of Ch1and Ch2. You can export or import the EQ coefficient when all of setting are completed. Click the Apply button when all of setting are completed. Mode: it can be Allpass, Peaking, Treble, Bass, HPF_1st, LPF_1st, HPF_2nd, LPF_2nd, BPF, or Notch. Freq: FC value. Gain: Gain value. Q: Q value input

14 GUI manual: Bi-Quad Setting
Click the Filter Design button for below setting. 2 1 There are 4 steps to set the EQ. Enable the EQ. Enable Ch1, Ch2 Link together. Then update the coefficient data. Finally click the Apply button. . 4 3

15 GUI manual: Compensate Coefficient.
You can follow below steps to compensate coefficient if required. Enable (check) the compensation filter. Then load the compensation data. Click the Calibration button. Finally click the Apply button. 2 3 4 1 Note: Please contact our distributors or sales team If you need further information.

16 GUI manual : Save and Load
Click the Save button to save all of device setting. And then system will generate two files .sav and .pram. Load function: load the .sav file if you want to use your previous setting.

How to do when the IC can not be turn on?

Please follow below steps to connect this IC if you can’t turn on this device. Open the utility of Richtek Bridgeboard Control Panel. Then click the Refresh icon. System will show “Connect successfully!.” 2 1

19 Trouble Shooting (method 1) cont.
Please follow below steps to connect this IC if you can’t turn on this device. Click the Connect icon. Then system will shows “Connect successfully!.” Then click the Scan Device(s) icon. After that, check if the IC address is correct and can be detected. If the address is correct, you can use the GUI tool to initialize it again. 4 3 5

20 Trouble Shooting (method 2)
Please follow below steps to connect this IC if you can’t turn on this device. Open the utility of [Legacy]Richtek I2C Control. Then enter IC address. Click the Read button. Then check if Bridgeboard Status shows “Completed Successfully” and Device Access shows “ RT_BB_Success. 2 1 3

21 Trouble Shooting (method 2) cont.
Please follow below steps to connect this IC if you can’t turn on this device. Enter the initial data. Then click the Write button. After that, the IC will be turn on and check if all information are correct. 4 5

Please follow below steps to use command to control the IC for 1 byte read/write. Open the utility of [Legacy]Richtek I2C Control. Then update IC address. Click the Read button. Then check if Bridgeboard Status shows “Completed Successfully” and Device Access shows “ RT_BB_Success”. 2 1 3

24 Use command to control the IC for 1byte read/write (cont.)
Please follow below steps to use command to control the IC for 1 byte read write. Update the register address. For example, if you would like to shut down the AMP. 4

Please follow below steps to use command to control the IC for 1 byte read write. Click the Read button to read register current setting. You can see the current register setting value. 5 6

Please follow below steps to use command to control the IC for 1 byte read write. You can change register value. Click the Write icon after you change the register value. 8 7

Please follow below steps to use command to control the IC for 8 byte read/write. Update the register address. Update the byte of the register.(Example : 8 byte write) Then click the Read icon.
