The Final Checks Are your files saved in the correct format?
Did you follow all conventional rules regarding font and organization? Have you removed ALL identifying information? Is your candidate number on all of your documents? Have you used the checklist you created to ensure that you have not missed any documents? Did you satisfy the page limit requirements? 15 minutes. Talk through each of these important items. Ask them to pull out the checklist they previously created that lists of of the required documents. They need to go through the files on their computer to be sure everything matches. You may want to allow them time to doublecheck their documents for candidate numbers, font size, etc. 5

You Are Ready When… You have completed the final checks.
The last two reviews did not produce any needed revisions. You read what you have written and feel confident that it is CLEAR, CONVINCING, and CONSISTENT. You have ample time to start the uploading process. Recommendation: Save all of your documents in the ePortfolio system and run through your checklist one more time. Then submit. 15 minutes. Now What? Celebrate! Make a reflection journal in which you record what you think you did well and what you would do differently. Record what you want to remember going into the next two components. Write down how you have grown as a teacher. Take an extended break. You have earned it. Start thinking about the other components and make yourself some notes in your journal about your early ideas. 10-15 minutes. Talk about the first bullet point at length. Whether they achieve passing scores or not, they have completed two components of National Board. That is not an easy task, and it caused them to really reflect on their teaching practice. They are better teachers for having done this. If the scores are what they want, that is great. However, if they aren’t, the world will not stop turning. They have opportunities to improve and continue that growth if necessary. Now is the time to celebrate what they have done. Then talk about the importance of reflection and how we must write down our thoughts to capture them while they are fresh. 7

Our Remaining Time Do you need a reader? Do you have questions?
Are you done and ready to walk out the door? (Make sure nobody needs you first.) The time is there for them to get last minute support. 8
