3 TUITION The expense of Berea College on behalf of the student (salaries, buildings, grounds, etc.)

4 Berea’s Tuition Promise
How do we guarantee? Federal grants, State grants, non-Berea Scholarships and grants, and Berea College grants

5 DIRECT EXPENSE The expense of the student for housing, meals, mandatory fees, books/supplies, personal, and transportation.

6 TERM BILL           The expense of the student for housing, meals, and mandatory fees. For first-year students, the bill is equal to EFC.

7 By Federal Regulations, scholarships and/or grants CANNOT replace EFC or Labor Earnings.

8 Term bills are due at the beginning of each term
Term bills are due at the beginning of each term. If needed, a student may be able to have a Parent Payment Plan, a loan, or may prefer to have a payroll deduction.

9 STUDENT ACCOUNT The student’s account with Berea College - contains term bill expenses, financial aid, parking tickets, library fines, course fees, etc.

10 If approved for a deferred plan, accounts are due in full by November 1 for Fall or April 1 for Spring Term. Students cannot register for classes for the next term until account is paid.

11 FINANCIAL AID Grants and scholarships (no repayment)
Labor Program earnings (self-help) Loans (repayment – deferred work)

12 Student Labor Program Students are assigned to jobs the first year here; after that they will be free to find their own job on campus.

13 10 hours per week is required
Considered scholarship, so no tax withholding (unless needed as an international student) Paid about once a month

14 NON-BEREA SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS
May receive up to $1000 for books, supplies, and personal expenses; remainder goes to tuition. This amount is reviewed each year.

15 SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS
NON-BEREA SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS In the future, if part of non-Berea money goes toward tuition, we will give College grants for up to $2000 for faculty-led course travel up to $2000 for medical, dental, or optical

16 NON-BEREA SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS CANNOT REPLACE EFC

17 SUMMER SAVINGS      Students are expected to contribute to their own educational expense. Upper class students are expected to have $1,000 saved from the summer to help with their academic year expenses.

18 STUDENT INSURANCE We offer a non-ACA compliant insurance coverage for those students that: are institutionally funded or no coverage in Kentucky

19 STUDENT INSURANCE Grants are provided to cover the insurance premium if you have an EFC equal to a Pell EFC.

20 ELECTRONIC CONSENT In folder, EC form. This will let us communicate with you by , or other electronic method; quicker notifications.

21 REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE
Will accept applications after August 1. Forms will be online, under our office ‘forms’
