WorldSkills International : is a membership organization like International Olympic Assoc. with 78 members. India has been a member since 2007 current membership is with MSDE with NSDC as operational arm Objective: Advocacy, promotion of best practices & global standards in over 50 skills through skill competitions. WorldSkills Competition : Largest skill competition in the world and held once every two years in one of the WSI member countries. With more than 1000 youth under 22 years competing in more than 50 trades. IndiaSkills : Largest National level Skill Competition held every alternate year. India’s 1st edition was organized from July 2016 at Pragati Maidan, covering 24 skills and was launched by Hon. President of India. Selection Process for 2018 Things to keep in mind18
Appointing institutional organizations such as IHM, NIFT, NID, as nodal entities tradewise to work with industry and academia to screen all applications, hold selections identify State representatives as also to train the competitors for Regional competitions Institutional approach State Competitions Holding competitions in Clusters / Zones followed by inter zone/ inter cluster to decide State representative for Regionals Zone/Cluster approach Things to keep in mind18 MSDE and IndiaSkills is the final decision on any issues regarding stages and norms post State level competitions. Each State will be able to send two competitors to Regional Competitions for each trade

I. Wild Card Entries Purpose
Since State and Regional competitions are being held for the first time and time is limited, provision is made for Wild Card entries to enable the best talent to be selected for each trade to represent India at WorldSkills. Regional / National Competitions Only 2 competitors per skill Process Up to two candidates with demonstrated achievement may be identified for each trade at Regionals & Nationals by State, large corporate, and entities such as DGT, MSME, CIPET, IITs, reputed academic institutions etc Pre - Qualifying round for all the nominated competitors All such candidates to compete with each other and up to two competitors per skill will be eligible for direct entry at regional & national level competitions Each wild Card competitors will be tagged to respective States Process for Wild Card entries will be created Wild Card Entries Academic/VET Institutions Corporates States

Skill competitions for Persons with Disability
WorldSkills International promotes cooperation with the International Abilympics Federation (IAF). In WorldSkills disabled competitors may participate in the competition in so far as their disability does not prevent them from carrying out Test Projects within the set time. However, additional time may be provided for work preparation and installation of the workplace. The same will apply for IndiaSkills. States are encouraged to promote inclusivity by holding skill competitions for PwD (Persons with Disability) India has been participating in International Abilympics held evert 4 years. IAF membership is with NAAI ( National Abilympics Association of India, NSDC may consider supporting some trades for Abilympics. States may promote PwD participants for Abilympics
