Why does community engagement matter?
How can we do it more effectively? Spend some time working on common community challenges in groups

Selected groups received: Peer Learning Coaching Money Who could apply? A range of non-profits, civic associations, Neighborhood Advisory Councils, And Recreation Advisory Groups. Today’s workshop we are going to provide the highlights of the peer learning. Community Connections is a program of Philadelphia LISC Funded by the City of Philadelphia’s Division of Housing and Community Development

Who’s in the room?

Find the marker in the room that best describes where you live.
Have labels around the room: Government, Community, Non-profits, Funder, Artist, Intermediaries, what else?

What is a community challenge you are working on?
Find the table in the room that corresponds to the issue you are working on. Have table labels around specific issues

Introduce Yourself! Name Neighborhood you live in Why did you choose this table? Any ideas/challenges/opportunities Make sure it’s one sentence!!

How do you use storytelling in your work?
Tell a story about your organization or about a particular project What is the project/organization? What did you do? What is the mission/goal? Who was involved and how? Who benefited and how? What are the results/impact of the project?

Who do you want to tell the story to? What is the best method? How would you assess their reach – Who is the target audience? Who consumes what types of information? Who are you trying to reach?
