Fig 1 Mechanical circulatory support in transplant recipients. (A) Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in patients before and after orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT) by diagnostic group. The most notable difference is in proportion of pre-OHT support required in patients with dilatated cardiomyopathy (DCM) compared with those with congenital heart disease (CHD) and patients with restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM). (B) Ventricular assist device (VAD) support before and after OHT by diagnostic group. As with ECMO, the DCM cohort is remarkable for its high proportion of patients requiring preoperative VAD support. (0 = no support; 1 = support before OHT; 2 = support after OHT; 3 = support before and after OHT) (CCHD = critical congenital heart disease.) Fig 4 Kaplan-Meier survival curves according to antibody status. (A) There was significantly better survival in patients with calculated reaction frequency (CRF) values less than 50 compared with those with higher CRF values. (B) Survival analysis according to non–donor-specific antibody (NDSA) status revealed poorer survival in patients with NDSA-positive status.
