4 Secondary Admissions Team
The Secondary Admissions Team will offer help and information, support and guidance on secondary transfer in the period leading up to completion of the SCAF, to enable parents to make the most realistic choice of school that best meets their child’s needs ( or

5 Admission Arrangements
Co-ordinated by the LA Match ranked lists from all schools Where a child is eligible for a place at only one of the nominated schools, that school will be allocated Where a child is eligible for a place at two or more of the nominated schools, they will be allocated a place at whichever of these is the highest ranked preference on their SCAF Where a child is not eligible for a place at any nominated school, the child will be allocated a place at the nearest appropriate school with a vacancy

6 Determining Offers LA send secondary school details of applications
Secondary schools will consider all applications and apply over-subscription criteria Secondary schools list applications in priority order and return list to LA LA act as a clearing – house for the allocation of places

7 Offers Sent by the LA Thursday 17th October 2019 LA will write or to parents advising them of the assessment decision Parents have until 31st October 2019 to return completed SCAF No right of appeal against the decision, but parents may make an admission appeal after 3rd March 2020 and by 29th March 2020 to the independent appeal panel if their child is refused admission to any school May – June 2020 appeals held 22nd April 2020 admissions handed back to schools – apply direct to school

8 Appeals Parents have the right to appeal for any school named on the SCAF. Cannot appeal for a school not named on SCAF. 22nd April admissions handed back to schools – appeal direct to the school.

9 Kent Test Appeals Procedure
If a child fails the Kent Test, appeals are considered by a panel Head teachers lodge appeals and these are based on: History of standardised scores Submitting all the work from the pupil Must be clear evidence of pupils working at grammar level

10 SATs Considerable effort by parents to prepare children for 11+ at the expense of SATs. SATs tests reflect the standard achieved during final year at primary school. Results are used by secondary schools to group/set pupils. Schools are sent scores. Appeals are more likely to be successful if supported by good scores. It is important that pupils continue to work hard.
