WHAT IS TUBERCULOSIS (TB)?
TB is an infectious disease that is spread from one person to another TB is caused by a bacteria (a germ) TB can affect any part of the body --but it is only infectious if someone has TB in their lungs or throat. Spread is by coughing, sneezing, talking or singing

How will I feel if I have TB?
Poor appetite Fever – hot & cold shivers Cough Sweating in the night Tiredness Losing weight

Coughing and sneezing spreads germs or viruses
Use a tissue to cover your mouth or nose

WHAT IS LATENT TB INFECTION (LTBI)?
If someone breaths in the TB germs they may become infected. A person with LTBI is well The bacteria are ‘sleeping’ somewhere in the body but the ‘sleeping’ bacteria sometimes become active and cause illness If you have LTBI you will only know if you have a special test.

World wide 1 in 3 people is infected. In England 75% of people with TB were born abroad

Have you been in the England for 5 years or less? Were you born in one of the high incidence countries? Have you lived in one of the high incidence countries for 6 months or longer and returned to England in the past 5 years ? HAVE A TEST!
