One Drill Weekend Standard is 2 days Typically one weekend per month Annual Training (AT) 15 Days, typically scheduled in June or July Home station (Salina, Fort Riley) Some travel (Depends on Unit) Basic Allowance for Housing Type II

7 Minimum Wage in Kansas $7.25 per hour Hours needed to make $251.20?
Doesn’t apply to most jobs in the service industry (Waitresses, Waiters, Carhops) Hours needed to make $251.20? 34.6 HOURS Hours needed to earn the $ an E-2 will make in 39 Days? 624 hours Full time is 40 hours a week 624 hours divided by 40 hours? Over 15 1/2 weeks!

8 Montgomery GI Bill $392 a month Kicker – Another $350 per month
Must be enrolled full time. In good standing with the National Guard Pays directly to the Soldier! Kicker – Another $350 per month Available to qualified applicants that score well on the ASVAB Amount is added to the GI Bill to equal $742 a month (TAX FREE) Combined with E-2 Drill Pay? That’s $ dollars a month in your pocket while attending school full time. You’ll need to work 137 hours per month to earn that at minimum wage.

9 State Tuition Assistance (STA)
Available to current Army and Air National Guard members Must have a HS Diploma/GED and be enrolled at a Kansas institution Pays 100% tuition and fees to the school you are attending For all members w/out a bachelor’s degree Regardless of rank Regardless of number of years in service Eligible members shall submit application for FAFSA Members must apply for Federal TA first, if eligible Members agree to serve 2 years from course end date Will not pay for more than 15 credits per semester Members agree to submit transcripts at end of each semester There are some huge and exciting changes on the horizon thanks to House Bill # Until the bill is funded, things will stay status quo. However, when they do change, here is what to expect! State TA will now cover 100% of tuition & fees for not more than 15 hours per semester. PLEASE NOTE…IT DOES NOT SAY “UP TO 100%!” Who is now eligible to receive State TA… First off, you must still have a HS Diploma or GED and must not hold a bachelor’s degree or higher. ANY current member of the KSNG, regardless of rank and or how many years of service can apply, if… They are enrolled at a Kansas educational institution and are not flagged for any reason, to include Ht/Wt and APFT. In order to receive this benefit, Soldiers must: Be eligible and apply for Federal Tuition assistance to the fullest extent. Submit transcripts for uploading into iPerms at the end of each semester. Have at least 1 year remaining on his/her current contract at the start of the semester. Agree to serve actively and in good standing with the KSNG for not less than 24 months upon completion of the last semester for which they receive the benefit.

10 State Tuition Assistance (STA)
Good standing defined… At time of applying for STA, member must: Have a current passing Fitness Test within 14 months Meet current height/weight standards Not be under suspension of favorable personnel action Have at least one year remaining on current contract Have a GPA of not less than 2.0

11 State Tuition Assistance How to Apply
Step 1: Create an Account Go to Scroll down to “Kansas National Guard Educational Assistance” Click on Online Form and you’ll be prompted to login or Create New Account Token to create an account expires in 15 minutes from issuance Step 2: Complete the Online Form Upon account creation, the site will list some available KBOR scholarships Choose to apply for “National Guard Educational Assistance” Complete the online form and apply for the appropriate semester You can no longer request TA for the Fall and Spring concurrently
