3 China enters the war On October 15, 1950 Chinese forces cross the Yalu river and attack American forces, catching them off guard.

5 Americans pushed back The American forces retreated back into South Korea. U.S. Marines fought an (Eastward withdrawal) from the Chosin Reservoir and made it to the safety of South Korea, whilst killing many of the enemy.

7 Stalemate By 1951 Communist forces had pushed American forces back to the South Korean border. However, the Americans stood their ground. A stalemate, were neither side could win, commenced. Though there was severe fighting taking place, with thousands of lives lost, the front barely moved, and an armistice (ending military activity) officially ended the war on July 27, 1953.
